We continue to create and bottle fun soda pop flavors and labels which we supply to all Rocket Fizz franchisees for resale. One of the many attributes that make a Rocket Fizz franchise unique is our soda pop bottling operation. We work hard to ensure that all Rocket Fizz stores carry a similar selection and present a similar shopping experience. When a customer enters a Rocket Fizz store they are visually overwhelmed by the amount of colorful inventory. We pride ourselves on carrying unique and fun products for people of all ages. Rocket Fizz Soda Pop and Shops offers one of the largest and craziest selections of glass-bottled soda pops and retro candies for sale in America. Here’s how the Rocket Fizz folks describe their venture: Rocket Fizz, a candy, toy, and gift shop concept that debuted in Washington last year, is preparing to open on Broadway in retail space part of the Hollywood Lofts development next to Dick’s Drive-in. Prime commercial space directly across Broadway from the neighborhood’s busy new Capitol Hill Station light rail facility will be home to a retailer that has found a sweet spot somewhere in the gooey center of a mix that includes equal parts Archie McPhee and piles and piles of Pixy Stix sugar. There are much better paying and more rewarding jobs in the area. It’s a good week for candy lovers on Capitol Hill. I quit when my manager just flat out gave me zero hours for the week and couldn't even answer me when I asked if I was fired. Overall, the work itself is fine but the management/owners are ONLY concerned with making money and do not care about the employees who make that money for them. On top of that there are no incentives to work harder or opportunities to advance. I'll admit that there were nights were I did not give 100% effort, but when you are criticized with no constructive feedback (combined with the lack of hours or co-workers) it makes working there very demoralizing. I was trained for a total of four days, after that I barely saw my manager but he would still complain about the quality of our work. Over time the mid shifts were cut and the store hours were shortened on the weekdays, which meant I was expected to run the whole store alone for minimum wage while barely getting hours. Initially, there were 3 shifts (opening, mid, and closing) and the store hours were 10:30-9 which meant decent opportunities for hours and I had at least one person working with me. At first I thought it was a decent job that was more fun to work at than the average retail store, but due to poor management decisions it became a much worse experience. I worked at rocket fizz for nearly 4 months. My co-workers are great too even though I really only work with them on weekends and on the day we receive shipment. I am so glad I found this job as the customers are great too! We have tons of different sodas and candy I never would have known about had I not worked here. This allows us a place to transfer if we plan on transferring to a college near one of their locations. They not only own the Bossier City store where I work, but they also own 2 locations in Dallas, 1 near Jackson, MS, and 1 in Little Rock, AR and are currently seeking out other locations. While they are sort of like the Managers, they are training one of the associates as Manager now, so that shows there is room for advancement with them. The pay is excellent, starting at $14/hr and quickly going to $15/hr, with really laid back owners who are willing to work around my college class schedule. While the owners expect you to treat this as a retail sales job and not a cashier job, I was pleasantly surprised they were cool with and even encouraged me when they caught me singing to customers and using the product as my microphone! This really is a great place to work.
